National Intern Day: Honoring the Next Generation at Securityplus

Written by | Securityplus FCU
I’m sure we all still remember our very first day as interns, when we finally had the opportunity to turn our classroom knowledge into real-world experience, or when we finally took that first big step towards our future career. For many students, internships are the opportunity to finally put into practice years of theory. That’s why at Securityplus, we’re proud to offer that kind of opportunity to future talent.

To celebrate this National Intern Day, we’re spotlighting one of our interns who has started his journey with us: Daniel (Dan) Finkler.

Meet Dan

Dan is a junior at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, who majors in Accounting and is set to graduate in May 2026. Like many students, he was eager to see what his future career might look like outside the classroom.
“I wanted to get a feel for accounting in the real world,” Dan shared. “This internship gave me my first hands-on experience in the field, and I’m learning something new every day.”
When asked why he decided to intern at Securityplus he mentioned, “I wanted to get a feel for accounting in the real world.” And this he did with all passion. Do you want to guess his favorite part about interning at Securityplus? Here it is, “My favorite part? Everything I’ve been able to do. I’m thankful for the hands-on learning and the chance to see how accounting works in a real organization.”
He also appreciates the simplicity and logic that drew him to the field in the first place: “It’s straightforward, debits and credits always match. And Excel makes everything easier.”
Beyond looking at debits and credits, Dan loves playing basketball, tennis, and some video games.

Advice for Other Students

When asked what he’d tell other students considering an internship, Dan didn’t hesitate: “I’d definitely recommend Securityplus for an internship.”

Ella Bartels, the VP, Controller for Securityplus said: “We're so grateful for the incredible work our accounting intern, Daniel, has done this summer. His dedication and fresh perspective have been a huge asset to our team.”

To Dan, and to all interns making bold moves toward their future, happy National Intern Day! We're proud to support the next generation of professionals and excited to see where your journey takes you.
