That’s why we’ve made the decision to sunset our current Refer-a-Friend program. While we’re incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm our members have shown in spreading the word about Securityplus, this shift allows us to focus even more deeply on what matters most, providing you with great rates, exceptional service, and personalized financial resources that truly make a difference in your life.
Why We're Making This Change
Our Refer-a-Friend program was launched with the goal of rewarding members who helped introduce new friends and family to our credit union. And while many of you took part in the spirit of community, we also recognized several growing challenges:
- Referral Quality: A significant number of referred accounts were opened but quickly closed or remained inactive, meaning those individuals weren’t engaging with us as long-term members.
- Member Concerns: We received feedback about delays and inconsistencies in reward fulfillment, which we take seriously. Managing these exceptions created a less-than-ideal experience for members and our service teams alike.
- Resource Allocation: As a not-for-profit credit union, we believe every dollar should go toward programs and tools that deliver real financial benefit. We’ve decided to reallocate those funds into efforts that offer greater long-term value for all members.
Rather than continue a program that no longer aligns with our mission, we’re turning our focus to building stronger, more personalized experiences, helping you grow your savings, access smarter lending options, and achieve more with every dollar.
What You Need to Know
As part of this transition, here are some important dates and reminders:
- June 15: No new referrals can be submitted. Referred friends must open their account by this date to qualify.
- August 15: All referral rewards will be issued by this date.
- August 31: Final date for submitting any missing reward claims. After this date, no new claims can be accepted or processed.
We will continue honoring qualified referrals that occurred before June 15, and members with outstanding questions or concerns are encouraged to contact our Member Services team.

Securityplus was built to serve a community, not shareholders. When you reach out to us, you’re talking to a real person who’s invested in your success. We’ll continue enhancing our in-branch and digital services so you always feel supported—however you choose to bank.
4. Reinvesting in You
Instead of paying fees to outside platforms to manage rewards, we’re directing more resources into initiatives that directly benefit members—like enhancing mobile banking tools, improving turnaround times, and launching community-focused loan and deposit offers.

We’re already in the early stages of designing a new program that recognizes and rewards the ways you engage with Securityplus, not just referrals, but deeper participation in your financial journey and our shared mission.
