On Monday, September 15, 2025, Securityplus Federal Credit Union once again showed what it means to be “Rooted in Community.” In partnership with United Way of Central Maryland and the Baltimore Ravens, 17 Securityplus team members participated in the 2025 Caw to Action—a powerful day of service that brought joy, energy, and meaningful engagement to students at Bay Brook Elementary/Middle School in Brooklyn Park, Maryland.
If you’re not familiar with the Caw to Action initiative, it’s more than just a volunteer event—it’s a call to uplift local communities through hands-on service. Powered by the Baltimore Ravens and coordinated by United Way of Central Maryland, this annual day of service brings together thousands of volunteers across hundreds of projects with a single shared goal: to create positive, lasting change in the communities that need it most.
This year, Securityplus was proud to take part in the action and bring smiles to dozens of young students while strengthening its longstanding commitment to community impact and youth empowerment.
A Morning of Fun, Games, and Lasting Impact
From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Securityplus volunteer team transformed a typical school day into a fun-filled morning of laughter and learning. Two second-grade classes participated in a series of Ravens-themed indoor games designed to promote teamwork, problem-solving, and school spirit.
The lineup included fan favorites like:
- Ravens Yahtzee – A creative twist on the classic dice game that challenged students to think critically and work together.
- Ravens Jenga – A test of balance and focus that kept both students and volunteers on their toes (literally).
- Ravens Trivia – A chance for students to show off their Baltimore Ravens knowledge—and learn a few fun facts along the way.
While the games brought plenty of fun, the day was about more than just entertainment. For many of the students at Bay Brook Elementary/Middle School, having adults from outside their community show up with encouragement, energy, and kindness made a lasting impression. It was a reminder that they are seen, supported, and capable of great things.
Why Securityplus Shows Up
“At Securityplus Federal Credit Union, we believe in the power of people coming together to create lasting change,” said Jeff Gehris, Chief Operating Officer and member of the Community Impact Team. “Partnering with United Way of Central Maryland for the 2025 Caw to Action campaign allows our team to make a meaningful impact right here in our community. We are proud to stand alongside the Ravens, United Way, and so many others in this effort to uplift and support our neighbors.”
This statement reflects the core of what Securityplus stands for. Since its founding in 1935, the credit union has served as a trusted partner for Baltimore residents, offering not just financial services, but a strong commitment to social responsibility, youth outreach, and community growth. Participating in initiatives like Caw to Action is a natural extension of that mission.
Creating Ripple Effects of Change
While the games may have ended by lunchtime, the impact of the event will last far longer. These types of community engagement efforts do more than provide a few hours of fun—they plant seeds. Seeds of confidence, support, and visibility.
For the second graders at Bay Brook, the experience of being celebrated and played with by local professionals can help shape their self-esteem and reinforce the value of teamwork, learning, and leadership.
For the Securityplus team, it’s a reminder of why their work matters—not just in the office or at a branch, but in the lives of the people they serve. Volunteering strengthens team unity, builds empathy, and fuels a purpose-driven culture.
The Power of Partnership
Securityplus’ involvement in the 2025 Caw to Action event reflects the incredible value of partnerships. By teaming up with the Baltimore Ravens and United Way of Central Maryland, the credit union maximizes its impact and supports a larger movement of transformation across the city.
These collaborations are what make large-scale service initiatives possible. And they are key to making Baltimore a stronger, more connected community for everyone—especially its youngest residents.
How You Can Get Involved
