BALTIMORE, MD (April 30, 2025) - Every spring, something special happens in Baltimore – the AFRO High Tea. It's an event many people look forward to all year! Hosted by AFRO News, this gathering isn't just about tea; it's a beautiful celebration of the groups and people who have helped shape Baltimore for many, many years. Securityplus Federal Credit Union was proud to be one of the community supporters of this wonderful tradition this year.

An Afternoon of Style and Connection

Held on April 26th at Martin's West, the AFRO High Tea has grown into a major event, with nearly 1,000 guests coming together. Imagine a room filled with amazing hats, stylish outfits, music, and friendly faces! It’s a chance for people to reconnect, take pictures, shop from local vendors, and simply enjoy an elegant afternoon. Important city leaders like Mayor Brandon Scott and First Lady Dawn Moore were there, showing just how special this event is for Baltimore.

Honoring Baltimore's Pillars

A key part of the High Tea is honoring groups that have served the community for a long time, often 75 years or more! These organizations are true pillars of Baltimore. This year, the event celebrated the incredible work of groups including:

  • The DuBois Circle
  • Jack and Jill Baltimore Chapter
  • National Council for Negro Women
  • Women’s Civic League
  • Kappa Silhouettes
  • Baltimore Alpha Wives
  • The Girl Friends
  • Baltimore Chapter of The Links, Inc.

Recognizing these groups honors Baltimore's rich history and inspires everyone to continue serving the community.

As Anthony Carpenter, Vice President of Business Services, noted, "Supporting the AFRO High Tea is part of our mission to celebrate organizations that have long shaped Baltimore’s communities and made an impact." It's important to recognize the groups that build our city.

A Celebration of Community

The AFRO High Tea is more than just a party. It’s a reminder of the strength and resilience of Baltimore. It’s a celebration of leadership, culture, and the power of people working together. It truly captures the vibrant spirit of the city!
